New Workforce Skills Survey

04 Jul 2016

What skills do workers in social services need? Is the training available and easy to access? What is your experience of finding skilled staff? Do you expect skills needs to change in the future?

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is beginning work to produce a new Workforce Skills Report (WSR) which examines the demand for skills within the sector as well as the supply of skills to it. The aim is to help ensure that the provision of skills better meets demand. The work will look at current needs and provision as well as future demands. Copies of previous WSRs are available here: http://data.sssc.uk.com/data-publications/21-workforce-skills-report

As part of the WSR we have created a survey to gather views from workers, managers, carers and service users on the skills needs of those working in social services. At a time when there is significant change in the sector we are keen to get views from as wide a range of people as possible. If you don’t think you are the right person to complete this survey please draw it to the attention of someone within your organisation who you think is. The survey questionnaire can be found here:

Work on the WSR will be going on throughout 2016-17 and we’ll publish the results in 2017-18 and share them with key stakeholders including Scottish Government, employers and learning providers.
