SSSC Have Your Say Workforce Wellbeing Survey 2026 report

Our annual Have Your Say Workforce Wellbeing Survey report provides insights from people working in the social work, social care and children and young people workforce on their experiences of working in the sector, including wellbeing, workload, support, and access to learning and development.

The 2026 findings highlight a clear and consistent picture. The workforce remains motivated by purpose and committed to the people it supports, but is working under increasing pressure. Across the sector, respondents describe strong professional values and fulfilment in making a difference, alongside challenges such as workload, staffing pressures and the conditions needed to do the job well.

The findings will help us and key partners, including Scottish Government, to better understand the experience of working in social services. They will inform national policy and support activity, and help us to focus our work on where it can make the greatest difference for the workforce.

The survey was carried out on our behalf by Diffley Partnership during January and February 2026. A total of 5,767 members of the social service workforce responded and 28 people took part in focus groups.
