The Position on Recruitment, Retention and Workforce Planning in the Social Service Workforce in Scotland
On behalf of the Social Work Services Strategic Forum the Office of the Chief Social Work Advisor (OCSWA), Scottish Government has commissioned a study to provide an in-depth view of the issues and challenges that the social care sector are facing with recruitment, retention and workforce planning. This will inform our work to progress a number of actions in Social Services in Scotland: a Shared Vision and Strategy 2015-2020 which was launched last year. It also builds on recent work that the Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland (CCPS) and Scottish Care have conducted with frontline staff.
Publication of LA post type data
We are pleased to announce that the breakdown of LA post types for years 2008 to 2014 was published on Wednesday 9th March (available here). The spreadsheets present headcount and WTE (whole time equivalent) data of all filled posts in local authority social work services where those employed do not work in a registered care service. This therefore covers staff working primarily in field social work services.
Revision to age cohort data
We have identified an issue with the age cohort data in the interactive visualisation and detailed workforce information spreadsheets for 2008-2013.
Publication of 2014 MHO Report
We are pleased to announce that the Mental Health Officers (Scotland) 2014 Report was published on Tuesday 25th August 2015 (available here).
