SVQs in the social services sector - 2008 annual report

11 Jan 2013

This is the second in a series of annual reports on Scottish Vocational Qualifications provision in Scotland, to be produced regularly for the purposes of workforce planning.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) wants to know more about the workforce and is keen to have accurate information about the qualifications which employees are undertaking and achieving. This paper sets out information we have gathered, which will assist education and training providers, employers, employees and other partners involved in workforce development activities.

This report is an analysis of relevant Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) during the calendar year 2008, and shows some long term trends. In the previous report, we used data from the Local Government Analysis and Research (LGAR) reports. As the LGAR is being wound up, the data used in this report has been obtained solely from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). The data covers new registrations and a new qualification issued, and is provided on a quarterly basis over the year.
