Scottish Social Services Workforce Data
On this page you can find announcements about publication dates and updates about our work.
Previously, the Western Isles council area was referred to in Gaelic as Eilean Siar as encouraged by government guidance. New guidance advises that it should now be Na h-Eileanan Siar. We now use this name in our publications; previous publications will not be amended unless they are updated as part of a time series, for example the interactive visualisations. As a result of this change, the area now appears between Moray and North Ayrshire in tables and charts.
We are pleased to announce that the Mental Health Officers (Scotland) 2015 Report was published on Monday 29th August 2016 (available here).

What skills do workers in social services need? Is the training available and easy to access? What is your experience of finding skilled staff? Do you expect skills needs to change in the future?
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is beginning work to produce a new Workforce Skills Report (WSR) which examines the demand for skills within the sector as well as the supply of skills to it. The aim is to help ensure that the provision of skills better meets demand. The work will look at current needs and provision as well as future demands. Copies of previous WSRs are available here: http://data.sssc.uk.com/data-publications/21-workforce-skills-report
